Sexy, subtle and stylish – this might just be my new favourite perfume

What is Chloé Atelier des Fleurs Cedrus Eau de Parfum?

Part of the Chloé Atelier des Fleurs collection, Cedrus is a smoky, woody eau de parfum – inspired by perfumer Quentin Bisch’s childhood memories of a playful bouquet of branches, once given to his mother by his father.

Fragrance family: woody
Scent type: spicy, woody
Distinctive feature: tender, woody and musky notes

What is the Chloé Atelier des Fleurs collection?

Chloé has collaborated with renowned perfumers (including Quentin Bisch, Caroline Dumur and Alexis Dadier) to create the Atelier des Fleurs, an exclusive collection of fragrances celebrating the art of floral composition. Atelier des Fleurs allows you to create your own unique perfume by combining multiple scents – each worn in pairs or trios, or alone.

How it looks

No one creates beauty cabinet collectibles quite like Chloé – and their elegant Atelier des Fleurs line doesn’t disappoint. About that bottle: topped by a textured ivory cap with gold accents, the pleated glass is nothing short of iconic, 15% of the glass is made from recycled materials while the box is 100% recycled and FSC-certified.

What’s in it?

Woody notes of vetiver, moss and sandalwood with a cardamom heart.

What it smells like

First spray A clean, elegant and airy citrus-woody scent
On skin Beautiful dry down, warm and gently woody with lingering vetiver
After three hours The scent trail is subtle but undeniably sensual – like a warm summer breeze

How to apply

For a long-lasting fragrance, liberally spray on to the neck, décolleté and wrists.

How should I wear it?

Cedrus can be worn on its own or combined with other perfumes from the Chloé Atelier des Fleurs collection. New to fragrance cocktailing? Try woody Cedrus as your base, layering on a soft, sunny floral scent (like Jasminum Sambac) for special occasions, and adding in a fruity floral (like Hibiscus Abelmoschus) to broaden the bouquet.

When should I wear it?

In theory, warm woody scents are traditionally best suited to autumn/winter – but Cedrus? This is a perfume for all seasons and occasions – a fresh unisex fragrance made for sun-dappled summer days, crisp September strolls, and one to bring tender elegance to otherwise average Mondays.

How Cedrus makes you feel

Cedrus captures that holiday feeling when you first step off the plane, the burst of warm air, the optimism for what’s to come.

It makes me feel grounded and quietly confident. Perhaps it’s the soothing sandalwood, which is said to help regulate emotions and calm busy minds. Maybe it’s the cocooning cardamom, believed to relieve stress, or the seductive vetiver, which can improve mental clarity.

One thing’s for sure, Cedrus is comforting, nostalgic – yet sexy and decadent.

Verdict

I have my go-to scents – the wedding day one, the one that makes me feel pulled-together, and the one that makes me feel fancy. I did not expect Cedrus to topple the lot. I’m hooked.

If you could bottle quiet confidence – with a scent that both soothes and ignites your inner main character energy, Cedrus is it. Pair it with a floral, and you’re ready to take on the world. ★★★★★
