Home Decor Ideas & Inspiration

A QUICK RESTYLE OF YOUR SPACE, A NEW BUY YOU LOVE… SOMETIMES IT’S THE SMALL CHANGES THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO OUR HOMES

We’ve had a lot of time to contemplate what we’d like to do to our homes recently. Whether that’s reflooring the hallway, or thinking about converting a spare room into a full-time office, the temptation is to focus on the big projects. But it’s the smaller wins that will make a surprising amount of difference to your everyday life. Put your styling hat on and look at those areas around your home that could do with a little ‘something’, whether that’s a quick rejig, or one hero item to revitalise a corner.

Focus on one area at a time, and the the joy it gives you will inspire you to move forward into another area. Unsure where to start? Why not book a virtual appointment with our Home Design Stylists? Happy styling.

1

BRING colour to dining

Denby Studio Blue Pasta Bowls, Chalk/Blue, Dia.22cm, Set of 4
Jennifer Morgan,-Interiors Editor

Swap out your plain white china for pieces in colour. Any shade of blue, from sky to ink, is a great choice. Look for shapes that have an artisan, almost hand-thrown feel with interesting glazes. Even a few mugs will bring a smile to coffee-break time.

2

CURATE A DISPLAY

LSA International Wicker Vase, H25cm

Group vases and tealights from the same collection or with a common thread to make a new display on your sideboard. Look for metallics or textures that are similar and play with heights for interest. Add a few stems of dried foliage to add a natural feel.

4

ADD MOOD WITH LIGHTING

John Lewis & Partners Boundary Bar Ceiling Light, Brass/Pewter

Give your dining table restaurant style with a low-hung pendant. Choose a simple yet striking design that becomes the hero of the space. Illuminate the length of your table, echoing its shape with your light or hanging two large round pendants above.

5

LAYER WITH COLOUR

John Lewis & Partners 100% Linen Bedding, Loch Blue

If patterns aren’t your thing choose plain shades of one colour to add interest to your bed. Start with a pale coloured fitted sheet, then go darker for the duvet and pillows, with one set a shade lighter. Finally top with a blanket in a darker hue.

6

RESTYLE YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE

Tom Raffield Cape Layered LED Wall Light, Oak

Give your bedside table a mini makeover – it’s the last thing you see before sleep and the first when you wake up. Look for pieces that make you smile, and clear space with a wall light. Keep the look symmetrical and repeat the other side of your bed.

8

Use art as inspiration

Valeria Mravyan - Zone I Canvas Print, 100 x 100cm, Grey

Looking for ideas for a room scheme? Start with a piece of art, pulling out its colours, textures and finshes for furniture and accessories. Echo any frame with furniture. Make sure you hang your art centre stage, with task lighting to show it off at its best.
