The 360° heater that actually looks good

India Price,-Writer

Looking to heat up, fast? Me too, which is why I tried Duux’s chic 360° heater

What is it?

Shock horror, it’s a heater. But forget the old, heavy, bulky ones that your mum keeps in the attic in case of emergencies: this is a chic, modern heater that looks good and works amazingly well. Most notably, the Threesixty 2 Ceramic Electric Heater from Duux is small and round, which in and of itself helps it stand out from said bulky, rectangular ones that gather dust year after year.

How does it work?

Well, you can switch it on at the wall… or you can have the proper modern experience by downloading the Duux app, pairing your heater and setting it up with a timer, your preferred temperature, the intensity you want and more. It’s super easy to set up and is lightweight so it can be moved from room to room, no hassle. It’s got three heat settings, the second of which I’ve found perfect for a quick, effective blast, and two ventilation settings – eco and boost – depending on your needs.

The beauty of the boost mode is that it can heat up a room of 30sqm twice as fast as conventional heaters – all the more reason to get rid of that cumbersome one you’re always trying to disguise.

Why should you get it?

December’s sudden temperature drop hit us all hard and with the ridiculous energy costs as they are, none of us want to put our heating on too often. Sure, this uses electricity but it’s efficient and you won’t need it on for long. It’s cleverly designed: the cylinder shape means that air comes out evenly distributed in 360°, heating the whole room.

It also looks great, which does actually matter. I have it in dark grey but it’s also available in white. For me, the grey slots nicely into any room in my house and I like that it’s not an eyesore.

What’s wrong with it?

Although it comes with a 'Quiet Mark', the only downside is that this heater isn’t silent. If you have it on its lowest setting, it is pretty quiet, but I like a hot blast and so I have to contend with what sounds like quite loud air conditioning. I’m sensitive to noise, though, so maybe I notice it more than others. However, because I use it on its boost setting in such a small room, I don’t need it on for very long. And the benefits outway this one, tiny inconvenience.

The metrics that matter
Ease of use It’s so easy to set up, the app has a chic interface (an essential, in my opinion) and I like that I can control the heater from anywhere with my phone.
How hot is hot? It’s hot. It gets any room toasty super quickly and heats all areas, too. So yes, it works well and is a brilliant bit of kit to add to any room this winter.
Value for moneyThis little heater is relatively expensive, but not compared to many of its competitors and not compared to the cost of putting on your central heating.

Is the Duux ThreeSixty 2 worth the money?

Yes. And although £99 is by no means cheap, it’s less than a lot of the other heaters on the market. What I like about the Duux is that witha diameter of just 22cm, it really doesn’t take up a lot of space.

I have it in my shed-slash-office and it literally saved my life (OK, not literally) when the heating broke in there. The shed is small, so I couldn’t have anything bulky and I wanted something that worked quickly and efficiently, and the Duux was exactly that. Trust me.
