Games night: what to play this Christmas
Nothing says tidings of comfort and joy like competitive gaming with your nearest and dearest
There’s only so much TV you can watch over the festive break so we suggest mixing things up with a game suitable for all the family, and no, we’re not just talking about charades (although we do have a new take on that, too).
Grab one of these brilliant games and get ready to do battle – while having a lot of fun. Challenge your friends and family to unearth their Christmas competitive streak and make sure the loser does the washing-up.
Randomise
This family-friendly party game involves acting, drawing and describing surreal and ridiculous combinations. Pick a card and you’ll be on a timer to portray personas such as an itchy wizard playing the guitar, or a sweaty crab on a snowboard. The more random it seems, the more likely it will be included. Great for show-offs.
Sixty Second Scribbles
If you have a budding Banksy in the family, this is their time to shine. Six Second Scribbles challenges you to draw 10 things from a given category in 60 seconds. Subjects range from easy (food, animals, body parts) to extremely challenging (tourist attractions, animated films, cheeses).
A game designed to flummox even the mightiest minds… Pick a card and note its colour. If it has a blue background, name the colour. But if it's, say, a green or red card, you have to say the word on the card, which is usually another colour. And you must never, under any circumstances, say Bumfuzzle.
