No one spends more time browsing on the John Lewis app than our team of fashion and lifestyle journalists. So what will they be checking out come payday?
Confession: I am not a happy camper. I like my own bathroom. And an actual bed. And walls. However, I have submitted to a sustained campaign of pressure from the teen and am attending my first ever festival. Which involves four nights in a tent. So to make it as painless as possible, I am eyeing up nice stuff to glamp up proceedings. Oversized cooler on wheels? 100% essential. Cool easy-to-erect tipi-style tent? Top of my wish list. And comfy seating to avoid folding myself up in an awkward camping chair.
Speaking of the teen, she’s been busily growing again and last year’s summer wardrobe may need a wee refresh for this festival malarkey and beyond. She’s all about platform trainers so I’m going to suggest these Supergas as I think the pastel pink is summery (she will, of course, make her own mind up about this, and everything else). Hoodies and denim shorts are hardy perennials and my girl loves an oversized overshirt (she’s purloined most of mine and, as they all look so much better on her, I have surrendered them).
As I have no shirts left, I might treat myself to a few bits too. Am thinking throw-on cotton dresses (with pockets please), slip-on sandals (surely wellies won’t be called for, not in July!), a very useful (but also hopefully chic) cross-body bag and perhaps (glass half-empty, but I do have more than a few British summers under my belt) something of a waterproof variety.
