The comfy-from-day-one loafers
Crafted from supple leather, these loafers are designed to be comfortable out of the box. But are you really going to be blister-free from day one?
Should ticking off trends be your thing, these green footwear go-tos provide a double dose of style. For one, they are loafers, the standout style for autumn. And second, they come in the shade to parade, too. Call it zoomer green, call it emerald, call it roadkill Kermit – it’s your call. But there’s one thing for certain: this is the green to be seen in.
What is it?
Let’s get down to business, shall we? These aren’t just any old loafer – they’re made from buttery-soft leather, using the famed Italian sacchetto method (pronounced ‘saketto’). While literally meaning ‘little bag’, it is a traditional cobbling technique that creates an almost seamless upper that’s soft, flexible and cocoons your feet.
Why do you need it?
1. If you’re back in the office, loafers should be your 9-5 go-to. Not only are they in vogue, they’re comfy as hell, too. Blister-free from the get-go was the goal, but you’ll have to keep reading on to find out if these luxe loafers delivered…
2. Even if you favour a sombre palette of neutrals, such as grey and navy, and consider a stripe at the fringes of your style comfort zone, you’ll be surprised at how versatile a super-bright shoe can be – because clashing with everything means you can wear them with everything. Genius.
3. This is a super-luxe style on a lemonade budget. The vibe here is peak designer, without the price tag to match. Sold? Me too.
Is it worth it?
Full disclosure: I have feet as soft and vulnerable as a newborn baby, so when I took them for a sock-free road test around the rainy streets of London the very first day they arrived, I got a blister. But, since then I’ve been in shoetopia, whether I’m walking the dog, commuting into the office or just kicking back at the weekend, so they’ve now earned their place as the absolute bedrock of my autumn wardrobe.
They wear like designer slippers and have the good looks to match – I’ve lost count of the people who’ve asked me where they’re from. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them in another acid shade, either. In fact, I’m currently pitching for bright yellow for summer…
