Lift your look from day to night with a golden glow
This time of year brings a flurry of events, including nights when you might be hurrying straight from the office to your next party. Keep it simple with a glowing complexion, and a dash of shimmering gold on your eyes to steal the spotlight. Bobbi Brown Pro Artist Warren Dowdall talks us through the look.
Step 1: Ace your base
‘We’re keeping the canvas fresh and modern so that the focus is on the eyes’ says Warren. First, he applies the Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer beneath the eyes, smoothing it out with his fingertips - ‘the warmth of your fingers will help to melt the product into your skin for a more natural finish’.
Next up? The Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. Perfect for a night out, this formula combines impressive coverage with a silky, lightweight feel and a luminous finish. ‘Instead of simply smoothing this on, we’re going to use a stippling motion, pushing it into the skin using quick, firm motions with your brush. This works the product into your complexion and gives a long-lasting finish - which is what you’ll need if you’re planning to dance all night!”
Step 2: Eye contact
Warren says, ‘the emphasis of the look is on the golden eyes - the high-sparkle finish will catch and reflect the light beautifully. But unlike an elaborate smoky eye, this look only involves two eyeshadows, making it more achievable if you’re dashing from desk to bar.’
Warren starts by applying Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Bronze along the lashline, before ‘blending it up into the crease using an eyeshadow brush for a diffused finish’. He then mirrors this along the lower lashline and buffs out with his fingers. ‘I love this eyeshadow for an evening out - it has up to eight hours’ wear time, so it will last you all night.’
For even more sparkle, Warren layers Luxe Eye Shadow in Moonstone over the cream shadow. He advises, ‘for maximum sparkle, press the shadow onto the lid with your ring finger, before blending upwards and outwards into the crease.’ Complete the eyes with a coat of your favourite mascara.
Step 3: Lips & cheeks
Add warmth and definition to your base with the Bronzing Powder in Light, sweeping it across your complexion in a figure 3. Sound confusing? Warren breaks it down: ‘start at the outer edge of your forehead; loop down and inwards along your cheekbone; and finish by brushing along your jawline.’ Warren adds, ‘the golden, bronzed tones we’re creating throughout the make-up stand out perfectly against the rich darkness of the Jaeger velvet jacket, enhancing the colours of both’.
Finish the look by applying Luxe Shine Intense Lipstick in Bare Truth. Warren recommends using a lip brush ‘for a sculpted, full effect.’ This soft mauve-toned pink will give the impression of fuller lips, while hyaluronic acid and vitamin E keep lips soft (and kissable…) all night long.
