No one spends more time browsing on the John Lewis app than our team of shopping-addicted fashion and lifestyle journalists. So what will they be checking out come payday?
With flights booked for the annual family pilgrimage to the lakes of West Sweden, I am turning my attention to wardrobe elevators that scream holiday. First up, a practical black jersey dress. Don’t turn your nose up at the colour friends – fashionland has decreed summer black a thing and nothing looks better with gold accessories and a tan than black. Nothing. I’m after a straw visor, because: main character energy, paired with this lovely basket bag that’s a designer dupe if ever I saw one. Plus I’m investing in a wetsuit, because I don’t want an aneurysm every time I take a dip in the lake.
I almost always regret going on holiday until I’m finally there and anything forgotten I’ll just have to manage without (‘passports, credit card’ I say to myself over and over until wheels up). But these items should help. The perfect medium suitcase that you can’t miss on the carousel, packing cubes for easy access to all your new holiday buys and a giant powerbank for keeping the kids’ tech topped up so I can read my Kindle in peace. This new one comes with a pen so you can highlight your favourite passages and make notes. Perfect for self-help addicts like me.
Since we’ll be staying in our little wooden cabin that’s been empty since winter, I want some immediate summery pick-me-ups for when we throw open the windows. Have you tried a tomato vine scented candle yet? It’s pure summer with every lungful. And while I wait for the fish water glasses to come back into stock, these cactus glasses will brighten up the table as will the USB-charged outdoor lamps for balmy evenings on the deck. Plus with some new super-bright beach towels I won’t lose our spot on the shore when we head to the coast.
