I never thought an eye cream would become my ride-or-die beauty product, but Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex has been a total game-changer for me

Despite working in fashion for many years, beauty has always been my Achilles heel. In my previous role as a fashion director on magazines such as Cosmopolitan, I was lucky enough to be able to plunder the wonders of the beauty cupboard (the place where all the latest launches are stored so the beauty editors can test them out) for new treasures. In fact, I first became acquainted with this eye hero at one of the mag's infamous beauty sales, and I haven’t looked back since (no pun intended!).

I’ve tried lots of eye products over the years but found them to be either too watery or too heavy, and they sometimes ended up giving me milia (small, raised, pearly-white bumps on the skin). This gel/cream is the Goldilocks of eye creams – it’s just right. It’s quite an unusual texture, in that it feels really rich without being heavy, and it sinks in straight away. I use it morning and night and it works really well as an under-eye primer before makeup. So, if I’m going out in the evening, I’ll wash my face first before applying it under my concealer and eyeshadow, and it just makes my eye area feel really fresh and hydrated.

I think the biggest selling point for me has been the comments I’ve received since using it, especially now that I’m 41 and a new mum. Although I’ve started getting lines on my forehead, I still don’t really have any around my eyes, which is obviously partly down to my genes – but I can also thank Estée Lauder for that, as I use it religiously.

Pretty much every beauty editor I know uses the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum which, for me, is always a good indication of how effective a product is. The eye version is based on the same ChronoluxCB technology, which claims to help boost skin’s natural renewal processes.

While £46 might seem expensive for an eye cream, I probably go through about two pots a year which, I’d say, makes it pretty good value. The results are so noticeable, everything else just pales into insignificance by comparison (and I’m still a sucker for new launches). Did I mention it’s my favourite product ever?
