Longwear makeup packed with skincare goodness - we put them to the test

I’ve been a fan of Sisley Paris ever since I was a beauty intern for a whole summer at Vogue. A family-run business who made makeup powered by natural ingredients that not only made your skin look incredible, but was good for it too? I was sold.

Now I’m fast approaching 40, the ingredients in my makeup, the coverage it gives and the long-lasting effect on my skin matters to me even more. So when I heard the nearly 50-year-old brand has teamed up with award-winning pro makeup artist Cher Webb to reveal her favourite products I jumped at the chance to put the collection to the test.

These seven products will fast become your new beauty go-tos. Let me explain…

Sisley-Paris Phyto-Noir Mascara £56.00

Big fanned-out voluminous lashes with the Phyto Noir Mascara

Cher Webb

New: Phyto Noir Mascara

Say goodbye to finding lashes on your cotton pad. No, really. Sisley’s brand new mascara not only gives your lashes extra volume and lift, it also treats them at the same time to improve their appearance. After just one month of use, Sisley’s cutting-edge skincare-infused formula (with ingredients that include Vitamin Peptide and Resurrection Plant) aims to help stimulate lash growth so that your lashes have 15x more volume and look thicker, even without the mascara on.

While I’m only a week into trying the mascara, so I can’t speak to the lash growth just yet, I can say this is one of the best mascara wands I’ve ever used. With one sweep it quite literally gets from each end of your eyelid for a really fanned out look that makes me look more awake and alert. I also love that it's available in a deep brown colour, perfect for an autumnal feel.

Sisley-Paris Ligne Noire Eyeliner, Deep Black £53.00

The new Ligne Noire Eyeliner has the perfect precise tip

Cher Webb

New: Ligne Noir Eyeliner

This easy-to-apply felt tip liner has a precision tip that means you can get as close to your eyelash line as possible for a super subtle eyeliner look. It gives such a brilliant black line that you can easily build up for a bolder look if you’re more like me and favour a thick eyeliner. I love that even though the eyeliner is quick-drying (and smudge free for up to 12 hours) it’s also easy to remove without having to pull on your eyelid. Better still, it contains Resurrection Plant extract and vitamin peptide to protect your lash line skin.

Sisley-Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream, Plumping & Radiance, 50ml £178.00

Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream

I’ve been a huge fan of the Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream since it launched back in 2017, it’s the perfect moisturiser to add into your daily skincare routine. It’s super lightweight so a little goes a really long way - I use mine morning and evening and one pot lasts for months, so although it’s an investment it’s worth every penny.

The moisturiser is packed with ingredients, from Black Rose aqueous extract to smooth your skin texture to Alkekengi calyx extract and Padina pavonica extract designed to re-plump your skin and strengthen it deep in the hydric layer while you sleep. I truly feel with this product the longer you use it the more effective it is in really enhancing your complexion, smoothing your skin and giving you great radiance.

Sisley-Paris Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation Exclusive to John Lewis £80.00

A high coverage foundation - it's a makeup and skincare hybrid

Cher Webb

Phyto-Teint Perfection

The Phyto-Teint Perfection is a high-coverage, luminous-matte foundation that is designed to improve your skin while you’re wearing it. Suitable for all skin-tones and available in an impressive 29 shades, 11 levels of intensity and 3 under-tones (cool, neutral and warm) it’ll hydrate, smooth and illuminate your skin. As there are so many shades I recommend heading in store to ensure you get the best possible skin match.

The coverage from just two pumps of this foundation is outstanding and makes my whole skin look more alive (even after a broken night’s sleep thanks to a teething baby). It also smells delicious. Despite my combination skin - with the added wrinkles thrown in - I think I’ve found my new forever foundation.

Sisley-Paris Phyto-Cernes Eclat Tinted Eye Concealer £88.00

Phyto-Cernes Eclat Eye Concealer

This eye concealer comes with a fine brush for easy application. Available in 9 shades it has extracts of Red Vine, Arnica and Ginkgo biloba to reduce puffiness and signs of fatigue. One thing I will say about this is you need only use it sparingly because one dot goes a long way - something that makes the price point even better because you know one tube will last a while. I rarely use a brush to apply makeup and usually opt for a fingertip, but in this instance the brush makes all the difference as you can really blend into all your under eye contours and wrinkles.

The coverage is excellent and somehow Sisley has created an eye concealer that doesn't accentuate the crepe-paper like wrinkles but disguises them for a really fresh look.

Sisley-Paris Phyto-Lip Balm £46.00

Phyto-Touche Illusion D'Été

This one-shade-suits-all bronzer gives the kind of natural glow I’ve only ever achieved from being on an actual beach for a day. It’s enriched with extracts of Gardenia, Mallow and Linden Blossom for softness and comfort and just one sweep gives you sunkissed cheeks. It’s so illuminating wherever you put it (on the apples of my cheeks and my temples). It also really evened out the skin on my cheeks for a much smoother complexion without looking overloaded in bronzer. It’s super easy to apply with no annoying excess powder left on your dressing table or trousers, thanks to the gel-like consistency.

Sisley-Paris Phyto-Lip Balm £46.00

Phyto-Lip Balm

A moisturising and luxurious lip balm that gives a super sheer and subtle finish to lips without looking like a gloss. Packed with Padina Pavonica extract, Vitamin E acetate and Shea butter to protect your lips from the elements, this beauty also plumps lips slightly thanks to Hydrobooster complex. Personally I’m obsessed with the felt pouch it comes enveloped in. I've been wearing the lip balm slicked on for the school run as well as over a matt lipstick for work.

Sisley Paris makeup definitely comes with a higher price point but it’s because the ingredients and formulas actually protect and work with your skin, rather than against. My advice would be to invest in all these items to create the ultimate capsule makeup collection. However, if I had to pick just one, it would be the mascara without a doubt.
