The New Nintendo 3DS XL has taken the original XL and turned it into something magnificent. Offering a dynamic gaming experience on the big screen, the 3DS XL means that you can fully immerse yourself in gameplay for hours on end.

Even when you upgrade, almost all existing Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games can be played on the new system in 2D. And thanks to backward compatibility, you can keep playing your existing DS games without losing them.

Better still, better controls means that it is easier than ever to browse the internet on your handheld, or take control on a range of gameplay. Both Zl and ZR buttons have been added next to the L and R button, and a new C Stick can be found near the A, B, X and Y buttons, expanding your control options. What’s more, the controls that were previously only available in the separate Circle Pad Pro, have now been integrated into the console.

The processing power has been reinforced too so you can enjoy faster download speeds. And, improved CPU performance also allows for faster loading of applications such as Miiverse. Dedicated software for the New Nintendo 3DS is expected to be released which utilises the improved performance of the new CPU and enables improved graphics.

NFC connectivity means that you can get even more involved in game play with Amiibo. These interactive figures utilise near-field communication (NFC) to further enhance your gaming experience. The New Nintendo 3DS has a dedicated NFC area on the bottom screen which will make your chosen Amiibo characters come to life.

Furthermore, the camera functionality has been upgraded so you can take better pictures under dim light conditions. The automatic brightness adjustment simply optimises your settings to offer the best view for your current surroundings – this extends battery life too.
