We put the brand’s new hard-shell suitcase to the test

Eastpak is elevating the travel game with their toughest-ever hard shell suitcase, which the brand promises is ‘Built to Resist’ whatever your journey throws your way. My Eastpak rucksack was a present from my parents when I travelled to Australia and nearly 20 years later it’s still going strong (and is literally used weekly as the kids swim class bag).

Will their brand new hard-shell suitcase live up to our backpack?

What is Eastpak’s RESIST’R Case?

Since 1952, Eastpak has been making bags that inspire people to move. Initially they were a manufacturer of military-issue packs and duffels for the US Army and now the brand has evolved into a leading lifestyle company, for people who want functional backpacks, shoulder bags, travel gear, and accessories.

The RESIST’R case combines their signature Eastpak DNA with high-quality, premium features to suit every journey and this suitcase is part of their ‘Built to Resist’ collection, designed to stay strong even on the toughest adventure.
The case combines durable polycarbonate with an aluminium frame that makes it incredibly light even when packed with all your holiday essentials. There are protective bumpers, it’s water-resistant and there's an integrated lock system to keep your belongings secure.

The RESIST’R case is Available in three sizes - Small (cabin size), Medium, and Large - and three striking colours: Black, Fire Red, and Brushed Metal.

What makes the Eastpak’s RESIST’R Case so special?

For starters, the bright fire red colour. I love a suitcase that stands out from the crowd and this one will definitely be visible on the luggage carousel. I also can’t count the number of times I’ve tripped over an unruly case before, whereas the four 360 degree Japanese spinning wheels on this case literally make it glide alongside you. It’s also incredibly lightweight yet feels very strong and sturdy so you really trust that your belongings are as safe as possible.

  • Eastpak branded embossed lining and "Built to Resist" laser-etched handles

The verdict:

A new contender for the best suitcase for short haul travel. Incredibly strong, resilient and secure it moves so smoothly along with you it’s a joy to push / pull.  Yes, even when you’re running because you spent too much time in Duty Free and failed to see the ‘Boarding’ sign… All in all I can confirm this suitcase is definitely worth the investment and I’m sure we’ll still be using it in 20 years time.
