Life is a beautiful sport; this is the point of view Lacoste have been representing for the last 85 years. Founded in 1933 by tennis player René Lacoste, this brand was created through a love for the game, a passion for innovation and a French elegance. Ever since, Lacoste have mirrored that of its founder who revolutionised the everyday wardrobe.
The story of the crocodile first began in 1923 after a Davis cup match in Boston where René Lacoste was baptised “The Alligator” in press in reference to a bet between the tennis player and his coach over a crocodile suitcase. The nickname stuck and in 1927 the logo, now recognisable in over 120 countries, was born when artist Robert George emblazoned the emblem on a blazer for his friend René.
Lacoste now offer a range of products, all of them being elaborated in the most qualitative, responsible and ethical way. Inspired by fashion on the court, Lacoste are the Fathers’ of athleisure and were the founding brand to take sporting designs into fashion when they created the very first polo in 1933. It won over the world and since then the authentic sporting roots have continued to add optimism and elegance.
