We accept clean shirts, t-shirts, jumpers, cardigans, jackets, coats, shorts, trousers, jeans, childrenswear, dresses, jumpsuits, skirts and school uniforms.
We can’t accept underwear, lingerie, socks, tights, accessories, footwear, handbags, swimwear, baby vests, baby grows, towels, bedding and nightwear.
We’re working with Satcol, the largest charity-owned textiles sorting provider in the UK. At the sorting centre, they separate the textiles into 3 graded types:
A For onward selling in charity shops.
B For selling to secondary markets.
C If the textile is unwearable, then it will go through a textiles sorting machine which separates out the different types of textiles. These separated textiles can then be sold for repurposing into all kinds of products including pet bedding or carpet underlay. This market-leading machine limits the amount of textiles that end up in landfill.
Terms & Conditions
For members recycling in-store:
- The FashionCycle offer entitles My John Lewis members to £5 off £50 Fashion Rental Voucher when they recycle a minimum of five clothing products from any brand (the "Used Exchange Products"). Excludes Tech products.
- My John Lewis members will receive a £5 off £50 Fashion Rental Voucher in John Lewis shops only.
- The £5 off £50 Fashion Rental Voucher can be collected once per visit, per day at any John Lewis & Partners store. This is redeemable once at any given time during the month.
- FashionCycle £5 off £50 Fashion Rental Voucher can not be given over the telephone, online or via our app.
- Customers must present their My John Lewis card to be scanned in any of the following ways;
- presenting their physical My John Lewis card at the till,
- presenting their My John Lewis card in digital wallet at the till; or
- presenting their My John Lewis card in the John Lewis App at the till
- presenting their physical My John Lewis card at the till,
- No cash alternatives will be available
- The Used Exchange Products must be empty, clean and not torn.
- Please note that all Used Exchange Products will be separated into 3 grade types:
- for onward selling in charity shops.
- For selling to secondary markets.
- If the textile is unwearable, then it will go through a textile sorting machine which separates out the different types of textiles which can then be sold for repurposing into all kinds of products including pet bedding or carpet underlay.
- The following items can be accepted in connection with this offer: shirts, t-shirts, jumpers, cardigans, jackets, coats, shorts, trousers, jeans, childrenswear, school uniforms (non-branded and unlabelled), dresses, jumpsuits and skirts. Please note that products purchased outside of John Lewis are still applicable with this offer.
- We cannot accept the following items: underwear, lingerie, socks, tights, accessories, footwear, handbags, swimwear, baby vests, baby grows, towels, bedding and nightwear.
